Eon
By: Alison Goodman
A book about learning to be yourself, this is a great novel for all of the girls that feel like they are limited due to their gender. Meet Eon, a girl disguised as a boy in order to get the chance to have a dragon. Only boys who are able to see the spirit world are allowed to appear in front of the dragons to be chosen, and Eon is preparing to meet the Rat Dragon. The dragons pick new Dragoneyes after a certain period of time, and Eon and his fellow trainees are next in line to meet the Rat Dragon.
Although Eon isn't chosen, something magical happens. The Mirror Dragon, ruler of the dragons and missing for a hundred years, appears and wants Eon to be its Dragoneye. This grants Eon the chance for immense power. The problem is that Eon never truly united with her dragon, so she can't control the power. Eon struggles to oppress her true nature, based on the belief the dragon won't bond because she isn't really a boy. Join her on a journey of self-recognition in an effort to bond with her dragon, as she struggles to triumph over a great evil without the Mirror Dragon's power. Eon realizes that maybe, the best thing she can be is herself. This book is continues in the second novel called, Eona.
